What is a product’s K-factor?
K-factor estimates how many new users each existing user brings through invitations. It combines invitation volume with the fraction of invitations that convert.
How to use this tool
K = invites per user × invite conversion rate. Enter conversion as a decimal, such as 0.20 for 20%. This tool displays K as a percentage: 100% corresponds to K = 1.
Example
Five invitations per user with a 20% conversion rate gives K = 1, displayed as 100%. Three invitations at the same rate gives K = 0.6, displayed as 60%.
Understanding your result
K above one describes potential referral growth under unchanged assumptions. It does not account for user churn, repeated invitations, overlapping audiences, or how long an invitation cycle takes.
