How to read the US economic dashboard
View selected US economic indicators sourced through the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis FRED API, including real GDP, inflation, unemployment, debt, mortgage rates, participation, savings, and home prices.
How to use this tool
Compare each indicator with its own history and units. Real GDP adjusts for inflation; annual inflation compares the price index with the same month a year earlier. Rate changes expressed in percentage points differ from relative percentage changes.
Example
An unemployment rate moving from 4% to 4.2% rises by 0.2 percentage points. That is a 5% relative increase in the rate, not an increase of 0.2% relative to its prior value.
Understanding your result
Indicators have different publication schedules and observation dates, and historical values can be revised. Refreshing the dashboard does not mean every series has new daily data. Read the source series before comparing differently timed indicators or drawing investment conclusions.
