What is a price markdown?
A markdown reduces an original selling price by a specified percentage. This tool calculates the resulting sale price.
How to use this tool
Sale price = original price × (1 − markdown percentage ÷ 100). Enter 20 for a 20% markdown and use a percentage between 0 and 100 for an ordinary discount.
Example
A $100 item marked down by 20% has a sale price of $80.
Understanding your result
The result does not include sales tax, shipping, or transaction fees. Sequential discounts multiply rather than add: two 20% discounts leave 64% of the original price. This tool handles pricing, not Markdown text formatting.
