How does this EBITDA calculator work?
EBITDA means earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization. This tool estimates EBITDA and its percentage of revenue from the expense figures you supply.
How to use this tool
Calculated EBITDA = revenue − expenses + amortization + depreciation. For this to represent EBITDA, the expenses input should include depreciation and amortization but exclude interest and income taxes. EBITDA margin = EBITDA ÷ revenue × 100.
Example
$100,000 revenue minus $80,000 of applicable expenses, plus $5,000 amortization and $10,000 depreciation, gives $35,000 EBITDA and a 35% margin.
Understanding your result
Do not add back depreciation or amortization if they were already excluded from expenses. EBITDA is not cash flow: it leaves out capital expenditure, working-capital changes, debt repayments, and other cash requirements. Revenue must be positive to calculate margin.
