How it works & examples
How to remove characters or patterns from text
Remove matching text from a pasted passage. The search field is interpreted as a case-sensitive JavaScript regular expression, so it can match a literal word or a text pattern.
How to use this tool
Enter the string or pattern to remove, paste the original text, and submit. Every match is removed. Use ordinary letters for a simple word match; escape regular-expression punctuation when you mean it literally.
Example
Removing “cat” from “cat catalog” produces “ alog” because matches inside longer words are removed too. The pattern [0-9] removes individual digits.
Understanding your result
A period means any character unless escaped as \.; it is not automatically a literal period. Invalid patterns cannot be processed. Keep a copy of the original text and inspect the result before replacing it.
